Children’s Ministry

It has been said that “children are the future of the church.” But, at St. Mary’s, we believe that children have an important place in the life of the church now and at every age. That’s why we consider it a priority to offer activities and programs that will foster children and families in their lives in Christ and build up faithful disciples.

ST. MARY’S NURSERY

On Sundays mornings and for special services throughout the year, St. Mary’s offers nursery care for families with young children (newborn to four years old). Our nursery is always staffed by two paid nursery workers. Parents may drop off their children in the nursery before worship begins. The nursery is located next to the Parish Hall.

CHILDREN’S CHAPEL

During the school year (August through May), Children’s Chapel is offered for children in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Children’s Chapel takes place during the first part of the Sunday morning service. The children leave with their teacher shortly after the service begins for an age-appropriate Bible lesson and return to the church during the passing of the Peace (before Communion).

VACATION BIBLE CAMP

Vacation Bible Camp is our version of “VBS” at St. Mary’s. It takes place each summer (usually the middle of June) and is open to all children in the community (grades K-5). We sing songs, learn stories from the Bible, play games, make fun arts and crafts, and so much more! Be on the lookout each summer on our parish calendar and social media pages for more information about how to register your child for Vacation Bible Camp.

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS

Each year, on the Sunday before school starts back (usually the beginning of August), we have a special “Blessing of the Backpacks” during worship. We invite all students and teachers to bring their bags and backpacks to church for a special blessing for the start of a new school year.

FALL FESTIVAL

Our Fall Festival is a fun community event for families, usually held in mid-October. With carnival games, hay rides, a bounce house, popcorn, cotton candy, and more, it is a joyful evening of fellowship and fun for children, youth, and families throughout the community. For more information, be on the lookout on our social media pages.
