Adult Formation

At St. Mary’s, we believe that the journey of faith is a life-long pilgrimage and that there are always new opportunities to learn and grow in our faith. We offer several classes and programs throughout the year for adult Christian formation.

RECTOR’S BIBLE STUDY

Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 (August through May), we offer a Rector’s Bible Study in the Library (which is connected to the main church building). During our time together, we pray and study the Scriptures. Typically, we focus on one particular book of the Bible, which is broken down into several lessons. All are welcome to join us!

EPISCOPAL 101

At various times throughout the year, Father Eric offers “Episcopal 101,” an introductory course to the Episcopal Church, which typically takes place after church and fellowship on Sunday mornings. This is a short, three week course for newcomers and inquirers, but anyone is welcome to join.

CONFIRMATION CLASS (FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS)

Each year, Father Eric offers a seven-week Confirmation Class for those youth and adults who are preparing to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church during the Bishop’s annual visitation. This course goes much more in-depth than the “Episcopal 101” course, and anyone who is preparing for confirmation or reception is required to participate. Topics covered include: Holy Scripture, the Sacraments, Worship in the Episcopal Church, Church History, and Anglican beliefs and practices. For more information about Confirmation Class, please speak with Father Eric.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS DURING ADVENT AND LENT

The seasons of Advent and Lent are times of the year when many people choose to take on special disciplines of prayer and learning. At St. Mary’s, we offer special programs on Wednesday evenings during Advent and Lent, which also include a simple supper and time for prayer. Program topics vary and are typically announced several weeks beforehand. All are welcome to attend!
